CHANNELVIEW

Two miles from East Park Village to Channelview

Channelview is located 10 miles east of downtown Houston. It is positioned across both sides I-10 East. This makes it a great location for visiting the Houston area. The population is 29,685 in this unincorporated city which has its own School District. The majority of population is oilfield, refinery and ship channel workers.

Channelview was given its name due to its location on the northeastern curve of the Houston Ship Channel. Channelview was the home of Lorenzo DeZavala, one of the founding fathers of the Republic of Texas.

When in Channelview, be sure to see the San Jacinto Battlefield where the Mexicans where defeated and the Republic of Texas was born. Besides the museum and battlefield, the Battelship Texas is docked here. From Channelview you take a free ferryboat ride to the battlefield.
